[Also in Group I] A comminuting device particularly for the solid content of sewage or the like comprises a spring-loaded pivoted comb 7 co-operable with the surface of a rotatable drum 3 provided with slots 4. The drum is mounted in a housing 1 having an inlet opening 2, the outlet from the housing being provided through the bottom of the drum. In the form shown, the comb has a slotted cutting edge and the drum has lugs 6; alternatively, the comb may have a straight cutting edge and the surface of the drum be smooth. An extension 9 of the comb cooperates with adjustable stops 11, 12. A recess 13 is provided into which heavy objects, e.g. nuts and bolts, may fall. |
