<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording medium which has a high printing density, excels in water resistance, can be utilized for various purposes, has no smell of an amine and is free from anxiety about the corrosion of equipment, or others. <P>SOLUTION: This water resistance improver comprises a cationic polymer [A] which is obtained by making a tertiary amine (a), a secondary amine (b) and an epihalohydrin (c) react with each other in a molar ratio of 1.0:1.2-5.0:1.8-5.5 and of which the viscosity at 25°C is 10-100 mPa s in the case of the polymer concentration being 60 wt.%. The water resistance improver improves the water resistance of inkjet printed matter and enables attainment of the high printing density, by impregnating or coating the substrate of the inkjet recording medium with the improver or by mixing the improver in the material of the substrate to be made into slurry for manufacturing paper. The inkjet recording medium enables attainment of the high printing density, together with the excellent water resistance, on the occasion when water-based ink is used for printing.
