<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ameliorating agent for an intestinal bacterial flora affording stable effects on an improvement in the intestinal environment and to specifically provide the ameliorating agent for the intestinal bacterial flora having sufficient effects for improving the intestinal environment by increasing useful bacteria living in the intestines. <P>SOLUTION: The ameliorating agent for the intestinal bacterial flora comprising a tree bark extract as an active ingredient is prepared. Furthermore, the ameliorating agent for the intestinal bacterial flora obtained by including the tree bark extract and one or two or more kinds selected from Lactobacillus bifidus and Lactobacillus is prepared.
