A transgenic plant to which a beta-glucosidase 1(AtBG1) gene is introduced is provided to secure the resistance against various abiotic stresses such as low temperature, damage from sea wind and dehydration by activating abscisic acid(ABA) by the AtBG1 gene expressed in a plant. A transgenic plant with increased resistance to various abiotic stresses excluding Cruciferae is prepared by introducing an AtBG1 gene derived from Arabidopsis thaliana having a sequence described as SEQ ID : NO. 3 or an expression vector comprising the same gene into a plant. The abiotic stress is high temperature, damage from sea wind, dryness, environmental pollution, pathogenic bacteria, wound, low temperature, excessive light condition, ozone, herbicides, excessive UV exposure and osmotic shock.
