PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for efficiently removing a surfactant capable of efficiently removing the surfactant from water or a sample containing the surfactant. SOLUTION: The surfactant contained in water or the sample is removed from water or the sample by adsorbing it toγ-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. Particularly, the method enables the surfactant to be selectively adsorbed and removed from water to be treated containing the surfactant and other organic substances usingγ-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, a reduction in load toγ-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>due to coexisting organic substances, a reduction in use amount ofγ-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, and a decrease in replacement frequencies ofγ-Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>. Further, the process of solubilization, purification and reconfiguration of a membrane protein enables the substantial removall of the surfactant loaded into a biosample or the like to a level without affecting a measuring system.
