PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a characteristic evaluation method and a characteristic evaluation device that can respond to changes in spectra of light on an irradiated surface of a photoreceptor in a characteristic evaluation device for an electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The characteristic evaluation device for an electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a charging device, an exposing device and a surface potential detecting device, wherein the characteristic evaluation method for an electrophotographic photoreceptor is characterized in that, prior to measurement, the sensitivity to white light of the photoreceptor as a reference is measured, the voltage for lighting a lamp of a white light source is controlled according to the measured sensitivity, and characteristics is measured.
