<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress emission deterioration, exhaust odor and deterioration of fuel economy in a catalyst warming-up process. <P>SOLUTION: This vehicle control device is provided with a control circuit 30 for controlling a vehicle provided with an internal combustion engine 1 having an exhaust gas purifying catalyst 25 in accordance with the warming-up condition of the catalyst 25. This control circuit 30 is provided with a catalyst temperature estimating means for estimating the temperature of the catalyst 25 at start of the engine 1 based on the engine cooling water temperature at start of the engine 1, and limits upshift of an automatic transmission as the estimated catalyst temperature decreases. By making the automatic transmission at a lower stage by this upshift limitation, catalyst warming-up performance is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
