<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely detect forgery even in the case of a foil-like thin metal such as a hologram 2, in a medium processor handling a medium having the hologram 2. <P>SOLUTION: A rectangular wave is applied to a coil 53 for detecting the hologram 2, and the output of the coil 53 is differentiated, and forgery of the hologram 2 is detected on the basis of the differentiated waveform.
