PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speech communication device for an MRI system, where a subject can clearly hear an operator's speech in the midst of large noises during MRI operation and no wiring cost is necessary for speech communications. SOLUTION: For an MRI system speech communications between a subject 5 lying within a gantry 2 in an inspection room 1 and an operator 6 working in an operation room 3, a sound transducer used for the subject 5 to talk and hear speech to/from the operator is composed of a bone transmission type microphone speaker 7. In speech transmission to/from the subject 5, the bone transmission type microphone speaker 7 does not use air as a medium but is made into contact with the subject 5. Speech transmission is possible free from the influences of large noises during MRI operation, and earplugs or sound shielding ear muffs are also available to the subject 5. Speech transmission between the operation room 3 and the inspection room 1 is performed using infrared rays through an existing window 3b, and no wiring is made necessary for this so that construction costs are unnecessary for the route of infrared speech communications between the two rooms.
