A gas cylinder is provided to have a function of returning to have a predetermined height automatically without the need to adjust the height of a chair directly and to rotate to an original position. A gas cylinder includes a spindle(120), a cylinder(140), a piston member and a valve member(270). The spindle does a vertical reciprocating motion according to the adjustment of the height thereof. The cylinder is mounted inside the spindle and is filled with gas. The piston member divides the inside of the cylinder vertically. The valve member seals an upper end of the cylinder, and has a through-hole portion, an opening/closing pin and an opening/closing member. The opening/closing member makes the through-hole portion selectively opened and closed by the opening/closing pin.
