[Also in Group XIV] Shaped elements, suitable for upholstery purposes, having at least one textile surface and a foamed plastic core are prepared by connecting to the surface fabric one or more layers comprising an open-pored foamed plastic material produced from filaments of the foamed material either by weaving or by aggregation, and this lined fabric is then formed into the desired shape and provided with a core or layer of synthetic foam material, or is fitted with a foamforming composition which is expanded to form a foam. The foam filaments may be connected to the fabric by weaving, sewing, sticking, or spot welding, and preferably have a slight clearance from each other. Preferably the filaments and core are of the same material, for example polyurethane. Figs. 3 and 6 illustrate how the filaments 2 of foam material are woven with a fabric 1, being held by yarns 4. The foam material may be in the warp or the weft.</p> |
