PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means which contains a sphingoglycolipid and/or a phytosterolglycoside, strengthens the interfaces of microemulsion particles, and prevents the uniting of the microemulsion under high temperature storage conditions. SOLUTION: This external preparation for the skins is characterized by comprising (1) a sphingoglycolipid and/or a phytosterolglycoside, and (2) L-carnitine and/or its salt. The dosage form of the external preparation for the skins is preferably a water-in-oil type emulsion form. It is preferable to contain the sphingoglycolipid and/or the phytosterolglycoside in the form of the microemulsion. The microemulsion is preferable to be a microemulsion formed from a phospholipid.
