PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage material capable of storing a large amount of hydrogen and a method for manufacturing a hydrogen storage material which can store a large amount of hydrogen even if not controlling the pore diameter of a porous carbon material by sintering or the like. SOLUTION: The hydrogen storage material uses the porous carbon material. A nitrogen-containing cyclic compound is adsorbed into the pore of the porous carbon material.
