PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium of a video recording/reproducing system for providing a function for displaying a current use state of a recording medium, a video recording/reproducing system, a mode setting method of the video recording/reproducing system and a display method of the system about a recording medium of a video recording/reproducing system for providing a function for displaying a current use state of a recording medium, the video recording/reproducing system, a mode setting method of the video recording/reproducing system and a display method of the system. SOLUTION: The recording medium of the video recording/reproducing system capable of recording/reproducing a video signal includes a temporary storage area for temporarily storing the video signa, a file storage area for storing the video signal as file information, and a file information storage area for recording the file information of the video signal stored in the file storage area, wherein the storage capacity of the temporary storage area is changeable.
