PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably feed recording paper even if having a conveying path with a small radius of curvature. SOLUTION: This paper conveying device comprises a pickup roller 12b serving as a recording paper separating means for separating the almost horizontally stored recording paper S and conveying it downstream along the stored direction; an upper conveying guide part 17b and a lower conveying guide part 18b changing the conveying direction of the recording paper from the pickup roller 12b almost vertically upward; a recording paper conveying path 33 for guiding the recording paper further upward; and grip rollers 15b, 16b arranged in the recording paper conveying path to hold and transfer the recording paper S.
