PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of extremely low yield of essential oil obtained by distillation process and increased production cost in conventional Getto (Alpinia zerumbet) extract, etc., commercially produced by using Getto. SOLUTION: The distillate is produced by collecting the leaves and stalks of Getto, washing and chopping the leaves, etc., drying the product and distilling the dried material. The chopping treatment is carried out to obtain chopped pieces having dimension of 1.5-2.0 cm, the drying treatment is carried out to attain a dryness degree of 25-40%, and the distillation treatment is carried out by putting water into the bottom of a distillation still, setting the dried material above the water and heating at 140-160°C to distill the material with steam. The invention further provides agricultural materials, cosmetics, deodorants, aromatics, sterilizers and chemicals produced by leaving the distillate obtained by the steam distillation at rest, separating the upper layer oil component and using the remaining distilled aqueous solution, and dyeing materials and agricultural materials produced by using the distillation residue liquid of the above distillation treatment.
