<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, having an image carrier body which can reduce rotation unevenness of the image carrier and can hold linear velocity almost identical with that of a medium to be transferred, such as an intermediate transfer body. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus where the rotation of a drive means is transmitted to the image carrier and a toner image is transferred to the medium to be transferred, the drive means and the image carrier are connected by a coupling. A drive means side coupling 220 is formed of an elastic member; and when it is fit to an image carrier side coupling 130 on an opposite side and gives counterclockwise rotation to a rotary shaft 110, abutting surfaces 222a at the edges of two claws 222 abut against the abutting surface 132a at the rear end of a claw 132 at the time.
