PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage medium in which defect management being suitable for continuous recording is performed. SOLUTION: The information storage medium (1001) is provided with: first area (1004) in which first information and second information being different from the first information are recorded; second area (3413) in which when the first information is recorded for the first area, first defect management information about defect of area corresponding to recording destination of the first information is recorded; and third area (3414) in which when the second information is recorded for the first area, second defect management information being information about defect of area corresponding to recording destination of the second information and being different from the first defect management information, is recorded.
