The method involves starting a process of a controller. An angle and a time length of the process are determined, where the time length is converted into an over-coated angle based on the angular speed. Another angle is determined from the sum or difference of former angle and the over-coated angle. A re-determination of the angular speed takes place for dynamically determined angles. An independent claim is also included for a controller of an internal combustion engine.
