PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image retrieval system for extracting information to be acquired from such vague expressions as the emotions of a person even when it is difficult to designate any proper retrieval keyword. SOLUTION: This image retrieval system is provided with a data construction means configured of keyword sort-out to select a category and keyword, derivation setting to associate keywords, image sort-out to determine impressions, keyword evaluation to total the impressions of the keywords, and site acquisition to acquire site information from the server; a retrieval means configured of category selection to select the category, image selection to input the impressions, image decision to calculate a site image from the impressions of the existing keywords of the site, site allocation to extract sites, and to classify the sites into site groups and site rearrangement to compare the designated impressions with the site image, and to rearrange them in the descendent order of the degrees of matching, and a result confirmation means.
