PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer displaying accurately the remaining amount of a battery by a simple constitution at a low cost and in a low consumption of electric power. SOLUTION: In the thermal printer, by using: an electric voltage measuring means for measuring the electric voltage of the battery; an electric voltage level judging means for judging which electric voltage level among a plurality of electric voltage levels the electric voltage measured by the electric voltage measuring means corresponds to; an electric voltage level displaying means for displaying the electric voltage level judged by the electric voltage level judging means; an electric voltage level displaying switching means for switching to the displaying of a different electric voltage level when the different electric voltage level from the electric voltage level displayed by the electric voltage level displaying means is judged by the electric voltage level judging means; and a printing monitoring means for judging whether it is during printing, the displaying of the electric voltage level is switched when it is judged by the printing monitoring means that the printer is not making printing.
