PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of a wide-area communication network by easily detecting a communication route on the wide-area communication network.

SOLUTION: A route detecting device 33 which detects the communication route on the wide-area communication network 3 comprises a detection signal generating means of generating a route detection signal for detecting the communication route on the basis of a test signal output from a transmitting device 11 connected to the wide-area communication network 3, a transmitting means of transmitting the route detection signal together with the test signal, and a route information generating means of gathering answer signals to the route detection signal from respective devices through which the test signal passes and generating route information indicating the communication route of the test signal.
