PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract a specified pattern by efficiently using a resource such as a memory and a CPU. SOLUTION: After converting one line of a main scanning direction of image data to be processed into run length data, an image processor determines whether or not a pixel pattern indicating a feature of a specified pattern is included in the one line, converts the run length data into coordinate data indicating a start position and an end position of the pixel pattern only when it is determined affirmatively regarding the inclusion of the pixel pattern, and when the coordinate data has been obtained as to one line on this side, stores the coordinate data obtained as to the one line on this side by coupling it with the coordinate data obtained as to a current line.
