The arrangement (10) has a roller (14) rotatably supported on an axle (15) for guiding a continuous material e.g. yarn, and a force measuring device (16) for determining a position variation of the roller that results from tractive force lying against the material. The roller is arranged at an arm (11) that is swivellable transverse to the axle. Stops (18, 19) are attached to the arm for limiting a swivel movement of the arm in a direction (22) of the resulting tractive force.
