In the operating unit according to the invention with a sensor element, a luminous means (12) is arranged on a side of the printed circuit board (11) which should face away from the cover (10), a fibreoptic conductor (13) is a rranged at least partially in a through-opening of the printed circuit board (11), and the fibreoptic conductor (13) has a conductive, substantially pla nar surface (14) on a side which should face the cover (10), the sensor elem ent being formed at least partially by the conductive surface (14).
