<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusion member that uses ceramic particles as a light diffusion filler, and is excellent in light diffusiveness, light transparency, and light durability. <P>SOLUTION: The light diffusion member contains ceramic particles, of which total transmission is not less than 70% and of which light scattering intensity is not less than 50%. The ceramic particles satisfy the following conditions (I) and (II): (I) The total amount of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>or MgO, and SiO<SB>2</SB>is not less than 80% by weight.
