The present invention relates to a flame retardant polypropylene composition comprising a base resin which is free of any grafted polypropylene component and which comprises
(C) a polypropylene, and
(D) a polar ethylene copolymer in an amount of from 7 to 40 wt% based on the total composition, having a MFR 2 (measured at 190 °C, 2.16 kg) of 20 or below, and
(C) a metal hydroxide or hydrated compound in an amount of more than 43 wt% based on the total composition,
in particular for a conduit, appliance, and/or automotive wire, to a wire or cable comprising said flame retardant polypropylene composition, to a process for the production of such a wire or cable, and to the use of said flame retardant polypropylene composition for the production of a flame retardant layer of a wire or cable.
