ALWAYS ON METHOD FOR SAVING WIRELESS CHANNEL IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION NETWORK AND THE SYSTEM

An always-on maintenance method for saving radio resources in a mobile communication network and a system therefor are provided to set a PPP(Point-to-Point Protocol) session by using a fixed IP(Internet Protocol) without setting a particular timer for maintaining the PPP session in dormant state, thereby preventing an unnecessary waste of radio resources for maintaining the connection. An MS(Mobile Station)(160) demands session connection setup for a packet data service. An AAA(Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) unit(530) allocates a fixed IP via an authentication process of the MS according to the demand. The MS(160) sets PPP session connection with a PDSN(Packet Data Serving Node)(510) based on the fixed IP as separately storing the fixed IP. If the PPP session connection is released after being transferred to a dormant state, the MS(160) selectively performs PPP session connection reset by using the stored fixed IP.
