摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction welding method for a steel tube and an aluminum alloy hollow member by which an excellent joint strength can be obtained in the friction welding for a steel tube with a diameter of≥50 mm and a thickness of <5 mm and an aluminum alloy hollow member containing <2% Mg. SOLUTION: The friction welding method comprises: a friction stage where the edge faces of the steel tube and the aluminum alloy hollow member are butted, and relative rotary friction is performed under a friction pressure (P1); and an upset stage where an upset pressure (P2) of the P1 or above is applied while applying a rotary brake after the completion of the friction stage, and, when the pressure is changed from the P1 to P2 while applying the rotary brake after the completion of the friction stage, P2 arrival time t is controlled to the range of 1.2≤1/(t/t<SB>0</SB>)≤2 (t<SB>0</SB>: the time from the application of the rotary brake to its stop).
