<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mercury removing apparatus and a method which enable the separation and removal of a zero-valence mercuric gas from a gas to be treated with a sufficient removing ratio while controlling a consumption of a mercury oxidation agent. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus converts the zero-valence mercuric gas to a water-soluble bivalence mercury gas to separate and remove it from the gas to be treated, wherein the apparatus has a reactive separation means 4A for making an aqueous solution, which contains a mercury oxidant composed of a trivalent irons (Fe<SP>3+</SP>) and has pH of about 3 or below, contact with the gas to be treated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
