PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately control a combustion pattern inside a combustion chamber.

SOLUTION: This control device for an internal combustion engine is equipped with a means for detecting transition of an integrated value of a calorific value inside the combustion chamber 5 based on the pressure inside the combustion chamber 5 in an expansion stroke and with a means for controlling the amount of exhaust gas included in air fuel mixture inside the combustion chamber 5 such that variation of the integrated value of the calorific value inside the combustion chamber 5 within a predetermined crank angle range becomes predetermined variation.
