The fitting has a part (42) located on the backrest, with a section (43) to release the backrest, which is formed as bearing plate with aperture (51) containing a sleeve (52). Backrest and plate are pivoted about the sleeve in release position. The distance between the inside of the aperture and the outside of the sleeve is variable, and the sleeve is fastened to the fitting part. Aperture and/or sleeve has interlocking raised parts (53,54). Spring tips (55) on the bearing plate engage on the sleeve with a force of approx. 600N.
