GEOSYNTHETIC CLAY LINER COMPOSITION WITH IMPROVED HYDRO-SWELLING PROPERTY

A geosynthetic clay liner composition is provided to have a more improved hydro-swelling property than bentonite and prevent fluid loss effectively, and to have an effect complementary to proofing ability. A geosynthetic clay liner composition includes (a) a bentonite and (b) a hydro-swelling improver selected from the group consisting of polyacrylic acid, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, or a mixture thereof. The hydro-swelling improver is mixed in an amount of 1-100 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the bentonite. A free swell index of the composition varies depending on the kind of an additive added to the bentonite.
