This invention provides a method for manufacturing a combination-type optical film comprising a plurality of optical films wherein at least one end face of one of the films have been butted against at least one end face of another film. The method comprises the steps of (1) butting the end faces of the optical films against each other while providing a space therebetween, (2) holding the whole of the optical films in their butting parts from at least one side using a holding material, (3) connecting one side of the space in the optical films in their butting parts to a vessel containing an organic solvent or an adhesive, and filling the organic solvent or adhesive into the space by taking advantage of a negative pressure state, and (4)removing the organic solvent or adhesive under reduced pressure to bond the butting end faces to each other. The method for manufacturing a combination-type optical film can prevent light leakage without sacrificing the appearance and can efficiently manufacture a combination-type optical film.
