A method for processing a video signal in a digital image reproducer is provided to process a video signal, which is read and reproduced from a recording medium, into a video image suitable for an image display device such as a television. A digital image reproducer requests and receives video signal process setting information of an image display device while the digital image reproducer is connected to the image display device through an interface(S12,S14). The digital image reproducer variably controls the signal process operation of video correspondingly to the received video signal process setting information(S16). The digital image reproducer and the image display device are an optical disc device and a television connected through an HDMI(High Density Media Interface), respectively.
