PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven position controller capable of preventing misalignment of a motor and enabling improved durability of the controller. SOLUTION: In this position controller, rotation of the motor 2 is controlled to a halt position in such a direction as to close movable vanes 1a and to a halt position in such a direction as to open the movable vanes 1a. The halt positions are regarded as operation criterion opening points of the motor 2. The motor 2 is made to be operable between both the halt positions. Rotation of the motor 2 is so controlled that a passage of an intake air introduction path of a turbocharger 1 may be opened at a target opening degree. In controlling the rotation of the motor 2, when PID control is performed by changing the target opening in the opening direction of the movable vanes 1a sequentially by a predetermined amount, the position of the motor 2 when the condition of the opening position of an encoder 3 not being changed continues over a predetermined amount of time is regarded as the opening direction halt position; and when PID control is performed by changing the target opening in the closing direction of the movable vanes 1a sequentially by a predetermined amount, the position of the motor 2 when the condition of the opening position of the encoder 3 not being changed continues over a predetermined amount of time is regarded as the closing direction halt position of the movable vanes 1a.
