An apparatus and a method for providing the safe movement of security data are provided to efficiently express the authority of using the security data without deteriorating the compatibility with an existing file system. An apparatus(400) for providing the safe movement of security data moves the security data in a first apparatus to a second apparatus, and includes a state setting unit(410), a data providing unit(420), a data deleting unit(430), a receiving unit(440) and a transmitting unit(450). The state setting unit sets the state information of the security data as disabled. The data providing unit generates a copy of the security data, and transmits the generated copy to the second apparatus. The data deleting unit deletes the security data after the transmission of the copy is completed. The receiving unit receives a signal of notifying the completion of transmission of the copy from the second apparatus. The transmitting unit transmits the copy to the second apparatus according to the instruction of the data providing unit, or transmits a signal of notifying the completion of deletion of the security data to the second apparatus. |
