A lighting apparatus providing polarized color light and a display device employing the same are provided to provide the lighting apparatus with a polarized light guide plate unit having a structure increasing vertical emission light and a cholesteric liquid crystal color filter to improve polarization efficiency. A polarized light guide plate unit changes light emitted from a light source(100) to linearly polarized light, and collimates the light. A cholesteric liquid crystal color filter(30) is disposed above the polarized light guide plate unit, and has a selective reflection characteristic according to a polarization state and a wavelength band of light.
