PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check gear engaging phase deviation at the time of assembling, and to suppress the occurrence of erroneous assembling, in an operating device gear-transmitting the operation angle displacement of a dial operating portion to a rotation angle displacement detecting portion. SOLUTION: The dial type operating device comprises a second gear 153 engaging with the dial operating portion 23 equipped with a first gear on an outer peripheral surface, a rotation angle displacement detecting portion coaxially attached with the second gear 153, and an operation angle position holding mechanism holding an operation angle position of the dial operating portion 23 at a plurality of any angle holding positions decided by angle interval larger than double of teeth interval of the first gear. Only in a regular assembling state that the first gear 153 and the second gear 153 are assembled so as to engage with at least either one of the second gear 153 and the dial operating portion 23 by a regular phase relationship, a regular visual recognition state reflecting that is it in the regular assembling state appears.
