A 6-speed power train for an automatic transmission of a vehicle is provided to improve a high-velocity driving performance by obtaining the overdrive at a forward 5 speed. A first planetary gear set(PG1) includes a first operation element operating as an input element, a second operation element operating as a stationary element, a third operation element operating as an output and stationary element, and a fourth operation element operating as an optional stationary element. A second planetary gear set(PG2) includes a first operation element operating as an output element, a second operation element operating as an optional input element, and a third operation element operating as an output element. Plural clutches are interposed between the first and second planetary gear sets. Plural brakes variably connect the operation elements operating as the stationary element with a transmission housing.
