An image display device and a method for preventing skip of frame are provided to prevent a screen from being unnatural due to the skip of frame, by adding a delay buffer at an input terminal of a video signal processor. A switching unit(131) is connected to a front end of a video signal processor(132) to switch and determine the input path of an input image signal. A delaying unit(134) delays the signal inputted from the switching unit(131), and outputs the signal to the video signal processor(132). A detector(135) compares the input signal and the output signal of the video signal processor(132) to detect a frame skip section. A controller(140) controls the switching unit so that the input image signal is inputted to the video signal processor or to the delaying unit according to the output signal of the detector(135).
