The fork lift truck has a drive chassis (10) with a housing, a frame and a steerable drive wheel. There is a control post (18) on top of the housing to control the steerable wheel. A pair of front support arms (20,22) have wheels and mounted at each side of the chassis to project forwardly. A mast (40) carries telescopic forks. A pair of drive batteries (50.51) are positioned at the sides of the chassis and extend vertically the same height as the drive.
