JOINT FASTENER AND METHOD FOR RAIL

A joint fastener for rails and a method of coupling the rails using the same are provided to prevent diminution of coupling force between a joint bar and the rail and to install the join bar without interference with a rail clip. In a joint fastener for connecting rails(30) comprising head, middle, and lower sections(31,33,35) and fixed on a wooden tie by a rail clip or for reinforcing damaged portion of the rails, a joint bar(40) is coupled to a through hole(37) on two sides of the middle section by a bolt(48) and a nut(49). The joint bar has an upper rotation preventing protrusion(41), a body unit(43), a lower rotation preventing protrusion(44), and a connection port(47) corresponding to the through hole. The lower rotation preventing protrusion has a first lower rotation preventing protrusion(45) forming an I-shape with the upper rotation preventing protrusion to allow the lower rotation preventing protrusion to be in wide contact with the lower section of the rail, and has a second lower rotation preventing protrusion(46) having only the portion close to the body unit projected for preventing contact with the lower section of the rail.
