A receiver for terrestrial digital broadcasting is provided to maintain the amplitude of a received RF(Radio Frequency) signal for the terrestrial digital broadcasting uniformly. A low noise amplifying unit(111) amplifies a received RF signal. A down-conversion mixing unit(113) directly converts the RF signal amplified in the low noise amplifying unit(111) into a baseband signal. A down-frequency oscillating unit(112) generates a frequency for direct down-conversion, and supplies the generated frequency to the down-conversion mixing unit(113). A filter(114a) filters the baseband signal outputted from the down-conversion mixing unit(113). A variable gain amplifier(114b) amplifies the baseband signal outputted from the filter(114a). An automatic gain control unit controls amplification gains of the low noise amplifying unit(111) and the variable gain amplifier(114b) according to the amplitude of the received RF signal.
