PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate troublesomeness of an operation for registering the weight of each article in a data file. SOLUTION: When a commodity code is read by a barcode scanner 203, corresponding unit price and weight are retrieved from an article data file stored in association with each commodity code so as to be freely rewritable, it determines whether the weight of the article measured with a scale 301 after inputting commodity code is identical to that acquired by search transaction. A checkout transaction is performed based on a unit price acquired by a search transaction when it is determined that the both weights are identical. When a corresponding weight cannot be acquired from the article data file, after inputting commodity code, allowance for registering weight and the weight of an article measured with the scale 301, are registered as weight and allowance of corresponding article in the article data file, the checkout transaction is performed, without performing a weight check transaction.
