PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for eliminating various germs in the air in a region of a kitchen etc. where a refrigerator is installed, by using a disinfection unit in the refrigerator for performing disinfection work of a vegetable chamber in the refrigerator with atomized electrolytic water. SOLUTION: The disinfection unit includes: a water tank for accumulating tap water; an electrolysis part which accumulates water supplied from the water tank in a water reservation part and includes electrodes soaked in the water to generate electrolytic water containing hypochlorous acid; a water receiving part to which the electrolytic water generated in the electrolysis part is introduced; a disinfection element where an air passage in a horizontal direction is formed between electrolytic water pumping elements whose lower parts are soaked in the electrolytic water in the water receiving part; a blower which generates forcing air which passes through the air passage; and a suction side filter on the air suction side of the blower in a housing. The water tank and the suction side filter can be attached to and detached from the side of a front surface, and the forcing air passing through the disinfection element blows out to the front of the housing.
