<p>A hermetic compressor for enhancing productivity and wear-resistance of sliding elements via improved surface treatment and achieving efficient lubrication and cooling of sliding elements even by a low-viscosity refrigerating machine oil. The hermetic compressor includes a thin porous Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> film formed on a surface of each sliding element, onto which refrigerating machine oil is supplied, the Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> film being formed via a steam homo treatment and has a high hardness and superior surface roughness. The Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> film, having superior surface roughness, has no need for a brushing process and can achieve improved productivity of the sliding element and prevent deterioration in the wear-resistance of the sliding element due to the loss of the Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> film. Also, the porous Fe<SUB>3</SUB>O<SUB>4</SUB> film can efficiently capture and keep the oil therein and has a low frictional coefficient, thus achieving higher lubrication and cooling of the sliding element than the prior art.</p> |
