PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight, compact and inexpensive sensor for easily, simply and quickly detecting a color and an absorption on the surface of an object without using a diffraction grating and a spectroscope. SOLUTION: The sensor comprises: a housing; a window provided in the housing; a power supply; an AC voltage generating circuit for generating an AC voltage; an interference section for linearly polarizing and branching an objective light B entering from the window, making a first branched light g pass through an optical path G including a Pockels effect element applied with an AC electric field, making a second branched light h pass through a dielectric material or an optical path H including a Pockels effect element applied with an opposite AC electric field, providing a phase difference between the branched lights g, h, and combining them as an interference light F; a light receiving element for receiving the interference light F; a calculation section for implementing a Fourier-transform of a temporal change in a light intensity obtained by the light receiving element in synchronization with a change in the AC electric field; and a storage/display section for storing and displaying a wave number distribution Q(ν) obtained by the Fourier transform.
