PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a threaded pin with a longitudinal groove. SOLUTION: A five spindle fluting machine includes a drum assembly 30 rotated by a driving mechanism 32. A threaded pin blank is supplied from a vibratory feed bowl 20, and the finished fluted pin is discharged from a shoot 36. The drum assembly is inclined. The drum assembly is stopped at four positions of a supply station, a grinding station, an eject station and an idle station, where required operations are performed. The fluting of the threaded pin blank is performed by simultaneously grinding five longitudinal grooves by a grinder assembly having five grinders 182 circularly arranged.
