<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beam converting apparatus capable of expanding a beam diameter at a fiber end part by a component for which the tip end of an optical fiber and a coreless fiber are fusion-bonded. <P>SOLUTION: An optical collimator 10 which makes parallel light out of an optical signal emitted from an optical fiber and spread is composed of a collimator housing 11, a ferrule 12, a single fiber patch cord 13, a lens 14, and a lens holder 15, wherein the single fiber patch cord 13 is constituted of one optical fiber 16 and one coreless fiber 17.
